MyFootballClub is the brainchild of former football journalist Will Brooks and has been described as 'revolutionising football management.'
The concept is simple. People register with the site and pay a £35 annual membership fee. With the fees collected, the website purchases a football club, and in return for payment, each member becomes a stakeholder in the club and can use the website to vote on all descisions affecting it's future: from team selection to new signings to even the kit their wear at matches.
With regular press coverage in nearly all major UK media from the BBC to the The Times, the website has attracted widespread attention. Even more so now they have agreed a deal to purchase English Conference National club, Ebbsfleet United FC.
The future of the website is both intriguing and exciting and it has presented it's own interesting challenges to us to develop. Features include:
- Squad Selector: central to it's success is the ability to allow members to choose how the team runs. The team selector allows members to guauge their own opinions on who should play where and when.
- Video Streaming: live broadcasting of matches
- Article library: Members are able to write relevant articles and allow others to comment, rate, and share them
- Chat: an IRC chat channel
- Match Reports
- Forum & Poll System: this is a central element to the site and allows members to interact with one another and view the latest news
- Online store: fans can help support the club by purchasing personalised clothing and memorabilia
- Member profile pages
