Work it, Mom! is a social network and information portal for working mothers all round the world.
Blubolt were approached to design and develop a site that would be a community for high flying working mothers to help, support and inform each other. The site is centred around both the parenting and work aspects of a busy working mom's life.
Work it, Mom! is social network at heart with numerous guest writers who produce informative content on everything from dealing with the terrible twos all the way through to entrepreneurial advice. Users can submit content either in forums or in their own articles.
Some of the site's other features include:
- Marketplace - members or guests can lists services or products to advertise to the site's community. Listings work on a per-month charge and can be renewed or upgraded at any time.
- Media Watch - an automated tool that allows the site administrators and members to post news from other websites in a consistant and attractive mannerr.
- Member Articles - members can submit articles on stories on anything from childcare to how best to manage your finances as a working mom.
- Groups - we created functionality so users could create groups for other members to join. These groups could be for anything from where you live to your job.
- Blogs - the site features more than 10 featured blogs from renowned bloggers.
- Advanced Member Features - members can add other people as contacts, leave comments on articles and profile pages, message one another, save articles, and much more.
- AJAX Member Popups - this is a neat bit of AJAX that pops up all the member info and contact details when you hover over their member image. The slick action and simple solution are a great example of the benefits of AJAX.
- Polls - each week the Work It, Mom! team post new questions to get feedback from members.
Work it, Mom! is continuing to rapidly expand and looks set to become a major force within the working mom online social arena.
