Top 10 tips to prepare your site for the holiday season!

As the holiday season fast approaches, our team has got together to come up with our top tips to make sure you achieve the best results from your eCommerce site!

1. Holiday-themed landing page

Have a clear link to your holiday shop, preferably in the top navigation. Many visitors will be specifically looking for a holiday link to get ideas for gifts.

2. Delivery and returns

Update your delivery and returns pages (and terms and conditions if relevant) to include clear details on your holiday delivery cut-offs and extended returns period. If you offer premium delivery services, make sure to push those too.

3. Gift wrap

Try promoting gift wrap in more areas of the site as an easy upsell tool, such as the homepage and landing pages.

4. Product bundles & gift sets

5. Global promotional messages

Consider adding clear messaging to appear throughout your site at the very top, e.g. for promotions, delivery times, return policy.

6. Promotional incentives

Try creating more creative, even quirky, holiday-themed promotions on your site to engage users and turn them into customers.

7. CMS scheduling

CMS content can be scheduled to go live at a certain time and be turned off at another. If you’re running a large sale, much of the content can be planned ahead of time.

8. Gift filters

Set up filters for people to find gifts straightforwardly, such as “what do they like?” with values such as “gardening”, “computers”, and so-forth. Filtering by price is also an effective way to let your customers quickly find what they want.

9. Product badges

Seasonal badges can make all the difference for the indecisive shopper. For instance, badge your top sellers with “Great for gifting!” or the like.

10. General housekeeping

Make sure that products that you’re featuring in gift selections, on the homepage, or landing pages have good stock, and check stock levels before you push any specific marketing to a specific category or product.
